Valentine's day Visit at Abbott Terrace
This afternoon I had the opportunity to personally visit over 200 wonderful residents of Abbott Terrace nursing home. All residents recieved carnations and many of the women tried on my crown. I spoke to one woman who was in tears after seeing the crown and we all wondered why. She explained to us that she was a former contestant in our state in the 1940's and that it brought back such wonderful memories for her. The smiles from that day will be forever in my heart!
What a Great Valentine's Day!
I Started my morning off bright and early as a special guest at the "Money follows the Person", Legislative event. This Federally funded bill will help people choose wether they want to have home health care or to reside in a nursing home. Currently, the cost of a nursing facility is double the price of a person being treated in the comfort of thier own home. Connecticut has been one of the first states to enact and implement this bill.

Over 300 people attended the event including Donna Palomba founder of "Jane Doe No More" and radio personality Barbara Davitt. All guests were treated to Valentine day roses and had the opportunity to hear in detail about this very important piece of legislation.
